This program is for students entering grades 11 or 12 have residency within the COP District.
Are you ready to turn your passion into a promising career? Look no further than the Building and Construction Trades Academy.
Our skill-based, hands-on, earn-and-learn program is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.
The camp guarantees an immersive and interactive environment, fostering active participation from students. Students will be evaluated on safety, performance, production, attendance/punctuality, and attitude just like in a real apprenticeship.
Tradespeople will engage in hands-on activities directly linked to authentic workplace scenarios, guided by professionals from our trade unions.
Beyond mastering essential trade skills, participants will engage in:
Safety workshops with MIOSHA
Financial literacy seminars
Employablility skill development, including resume building
Apprenticeship seminar
Business immersion trips
This intensive 12-day program, running from June 13th to June 28th, 2024, offers high school juniors and seniors, regardless of gender, a unique opportunity to dive head-first into the world of skilled trades while earning a competitive wage.

HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:
High school junior or senior status in the Fall 2024
Residency within the COP District
Must have reliable transportation
Clothing requirements for safety:
Long sleeve cotton shirts
Jeans with no rips or frays
High cotton socks
Leather work boots required, steel-toed boots preferred
